Hey everyone, so I’m sure some of y’all are wondering why is she starting a blog? Well, to be honest – I need it for me. As many know, I am a stay at home mom and caretaker to my kids. It’s a great blessing, but I am the type of person who needs to work and have a sense of contributing to society.
When we decided to start a family, Joe and I both agreed that it would be best if I put off working to raise the kids during their younger years. The plan was to start my career once AJ hit school age, but little did we know he would actually need this kind of household dynamic. Then came along Lucina. She doesn’t need the stay at home parent as much as AJ but it’s nice to always be here for them.
Granted it’s nice being home, it can get easy for me to feel blah sometimes. What I have learned in the past few months is that sharing my experiences with the kids on Facebook helped me “find a purpose” again. Especially the stories regarding AJ’s younger days; I felt like a weight I was unknowingly carrying around was lifted.
I was happily surprised that many of my friends/family supported and loved hearing AJ’s progress. Not that they didn’t already, but I never shared our detailed Autism stories before a few months ago – mainly from the fear of judgment in this harsh world we live in. Compared to a few years back, I am well into the acceptance and advocating phase of our journey; making it easier for me to be an open book.
I follow and find a sense of family in Vloggers & Bloggers regarding special needs. What I didn’t know was that many of my hometown companions don’t have that. I want to open that door & give everyone the opportunity to relate to or share my stories with someone who may feel alone (even just for a moment) when it comes to parenting in general.
I am married but solo parent a lot. So many of my stories can be relatable to those who are single parenting, parenting in general or raising a special needs child with little prior knowledge or resources.
Let me be your “shoulder.” Find comfort in the obstacles we have dealt with. If it makes you laugh, cry, happy cry or just rejoice in the “ok it’s not just my kid,” then my blog has served its purpose.
Until next blog ❤
