So it’s finally happening! AJ has two loose teeth! His bottom left tooth is barely hanging on but stubborn enough to not let floss get around it.
The tooth has been wiggly for a good week but today was the first day AJ actually had a little panic attack about it. While he was eating lunch it started bleeding – we all know blood is nasty! Once I got him to drink some water and it stopped, he was fine. The hard part is knowing if he has some understanding of what a loose tooth is.
With AJ it’s so hard to know just how much he comprehends. He’s a visual and hands on learner; thing is, you can’t really do that with teeth. At least I haven’t thought of a way to teach him about it. I honestly thought kids starts losing teeth at seven. I was wrong haha.
So back to this tooth. We were able to get AJ to trust us enough to tie floss around it, but the floss kept slipping. When it was time to start, Joe said “I can’t” and walked out overwhelmed. I was like “oh come on, you’re the strong dad!” His defense was he was scared and didn’t want to hurt AJ.
This left me to try and figure it out. The girl who begged her parents to make dentist appointments because she was too scared to pull her own teeth out. Eventually Joe came back to try and help regardless of nerves. I mean, it’s AJ the one with the loose tooth anyway lol.
After about five attempts we called it quits. The tooth is still hanging in there. I’m thinking maybe tomorrow it will be out. Really crossing my fingers he loses it at home and not school. To help AJ understand this tooth shenanigans we decided to name it.
The tooth is named Mr. Wiggles. Every time I ask about him (the tooth), AJ gives him a wiggle. I’m hoping this trick does the job of making Mr. Wiggles fall out. We also call it Loose Tooth T – after the line in AJ’s favorite book Chicka Chicka Boom Boom.
Please let me know all the teeth tricks and tips. I have no idea what I’m doing here. Just winging it waiting for Mr. Wiggles.
Until next blog ❤
