Star Student & Crying – What a Friday!

What a Friday! One kid was named star student of the week and the other kept bursting into tears during class.

It’s Friday, meaning Lucina goes to her morning class. I always get the run down at pickup and today they gave me the star student banner to display at the house.

Sister has been super sweet to her classmates sharing, helping clean up, and using the potty! This was her first week wearing undies in school and she did great.

We are about 90% potty trained now!

Fast forward to twelve forty. I get a call from AJ’s school and my first thought was “Please don’t let him be sick.”

The nurse said that during class he started crying and wasn’t able to communicate with his tablet what was bothering him. For safe measures, the teachers took him to the nurse to take his temperature. He was fine.

“He keeps crying, do you want to pick him up?”

That is a mixed sentence.

It makes me sad that AJ can’t be understood sometimes, but my momma instincts knew it wasn’t serious. I knew the culprit.

Mr. Wiggles!

I had the nurse hang up the phone so she can glove up, check his tooth and then call me back.

She called back and sure enough, when she coaxed AJ to let her “clean Mr. Wiggles” he (the tooth) fell right out onto the cotton ball.

Victory! Mr. Wiggles was finally out! And Joe and I didn’t have to experience the nerves of pulling it out ourselves! Thanks nurse!

While I was on the phone with the nurse, AJ was tugging her to go back to class. I told her to send him back and just have the teachers call me if he gets upset again.

Maybe thirty minutes later I got a call. AJ started crying in class again.

I knew what he was doing.

He was replaying losing his tooth. He was back in the environment where it started. He does that.

He focuses and replays things in his head. Almost like he is trying to process but gets stuck at the onset.

What was triggering it was his tongue feeling the hole. We adults can remember that weird feeling when a tooth comes out; AJ just takes a little longer to “adjust.”

I ended up picking him up early so he wouldn’t torture his poor little mind by replaying it the rest of the school day.

We are home now and he’s watching Toy Story, hopefully forgetting about Mr. Wiggles getting evicted.

We shall see how tonight goes when it’s time to brush his teeth. It will be fine or may trigger the realization again.

Overall it was a great Friday. My sassy girl got student of the week, is wearing undies now and AJ lost his first tooth! Talk about a busy Friday!

Until next blog ❤
