Birthday Fun

Hey guys, sorry I haven’t written a blog in a while. If you read the previous blog about AJ getting sick on his birthday – then you know I’ve had my hands full.

AJ has his personality back for the most part but I don’t know if I’m just so paranoid from the past, I’m still watching him like a hawk. AJ is notorious for taking a turn for the worst within a hour.

Anyway, let me share some of the fun he had on his birthday before he got sick.

The day started good with him checking out his ChickaChickaBoomBoom inspired tree I made him. He totally walked past the red balloons I had hanging from his door.

After that, we had some pancakes for breakfast. AJ LOVES pancakes. He didn’t finish his, which was the first sign of the day he wasn’t feeling well.

We then let him open his gifts. Parents of the year just kept them in amazon bags. AJ doesn’t care for all the wrapping. He got a Pete the Cat hand puppet, a The Very Hungry Caterpillar stuffed caterpillar and of course, a Moonlite book of Chicka Chicka Boom Boom.

Once gifts were opened, we all got dressed and drove to go pick some fish. I really wanted AJ to pick the fish but he was just really zoning out and stimming on the fish tanks.

Luckily, I paid attention to the fish he liked from Petco and was able to find some similar. He gravitated towards fish with stripes or some sort of color shimmer that changed as they swam.

Joe’s rule was “no Nemo” because 1. He’s a saltwater fish and 2. He is expensive to keep alive. If you’re wondering, that’s the first fish AJ went to go look at 😅.

We ended up getting ten small fish. Yes, ten! I was cool with like a beta fish or something but Joe being Joe, he doesn’t know how to not splurge.

I actually stopped opening packages that show up because we get some every other day it seems like. Ninety percent of it is fishing pole stuff and the other ten is for the fish tank now lol.

While we were at the pet store, I noticed AJ start to lose his color so by the time we got home, things changed about an hour later.

During that hour in between, we got to have some fun with the door balloons and attempt to sing happy birthday.

Wrecking Ball Mickey

AJ was shivering and not himself, so he never got to blow out candles or get a picture with his cake. I know he liked it though because he kept looking at it and smiling at the coconut tree before he felt sick.

That was pretty much all the fun we were able to have before things got bad. We are going to redo his birthday but of course, the weather is not good now that he is feeling more himself.

It’s cold and drizzling rain here so no fun outdoor trips for us. I was hoping the beach, the zoo or Disney but I’m not risking AJ being out in this weather. I’m actually still waiting on his bacterial swab results to come back 🙄. Maybe we can take him to a store and pick out something he loves.

I by no means am tech savvy or a vlogger, but for experiences we go through that have so much detail, I’m going to try filming a sit down video on them. It will probably be easier for someone to watch vs. Read a long blog. I’ll keep y’all posted on that.

I hope everyone has a great Valentine’s Day!

Until next blog ❤
