Hello everybody!
Good news, AJ is back to his normal self aside from waking up with some nasal drip. I woke up stuffy and eyes irritated sooooo I’m pretty sure allergies may be a culprit here.
I really wanted to make up AJ’s birthday celebration but the weather didn’t allow that. Instead, we stayed home the entire holiday break minus a Target run.
Joe needed some things for work so we made up a shopping list. As much as I love Target, Walmart is just cheaper for some items.
The only reason we hit up Target was because AJ requested it on his tablet. I want to encourage that as much as possible, even if that means we leave poor lol.
As one could expect, AJ and Lucina tore up Target and wanted all the books and toys. We had to get out of there stat.
AJ was particularly fond on stimming that day. A lot of hand flapping, squeal jumping and covering his ears.
The covering the ears is fairly new for him. He usually doesn’t mind sound but I’ve noticed he’s been pretty sensitive lately. It could honestly be him regulating after being sick.
It’s safe to say we went over our shopping list. AJ got a Pete the Cat book while Lucina got a Peppa Pig play set. They each got one mess free coloring book. I highly recommend them.
Lucina filmed a “unboxing” of her Peppa toy set to help me chop and edit for practice. Maybe I’ll post the rough cut later this week. Homegirl is ALL about the camera.
Some none toy related items were new toothbrushes for the kids. Lucina is super excited about hers. She got one of those kid Oral-B battery kind. AJ is a soft bristle, manual type of guy.
While on the topic of teeth and oral care, AJ LOST A TOOTH!
Literally.
I have no idea where it is 🥴.
All week he’s been crying because it would bleed while eating. I tried to take it out but honestly, I’m not about that life.
AJ wouldn’t let me and we already know about Joe. I was going to send him to the school nurse on Wednesday. She’s the one who pulled out Mr. Wiggles.
I’m assuming he ate it?? If he did, I’m not checking for it 😅. I’ll have to keep a close eye out when I clean his room.
He had it at lunch time and then it was gone by dinner. I guess I should be happy it wasn’t as traumatic for him as the first one he lost at school.
Pet Drama
Now let’s talk pets.
We finally named all of our fish. We have eleven! Oh and a snail. He was free 🤷🏻♀️.
We have: Spot, Chico, Tip, O, Blue, Bruce, Squirt, Pearl, Jim, Dwight, Flounder & Gary the snail.
These are by far NOT low maintenance pets. They were supposed to be, but we know how Joe is at picking pets.
Now the dogs. Man these dogs took a big hit out the bank.
Luckily, we always plan their annual checkups around tax season. The boys were good. No problems at all. Lexi on the other hand has a hot spot and a mild ear infection.
Apparently German Shepherds are prone to ear infections ? I had no clue. I honestly already knew she had an ear infection. I could smell it.
Sounds so weird right? Joe said I have a canine nose. I can smell the slightest sour smell or something turning. I knew she likely had one because she had a sour smell.
Joe couldn’t smell it at all. It a blessing and curse sometimes. I easily get irritated by things that don’t bother anyone else.
The hot spot we didn’t see coming. She’s been around us and not bothered, but of course she has one the day of the vet appointment.
In short, we got them good to go and medication for Lexi. If you ever wondered how much two German Shepard’s and one small Shih Tzu will put you back at a vet visit, it’s about mid five hundred. A little less since we had to buy medication for Lexi. Sooo maybe a high three, solid four, not including heart worm prevention. I wish I was joking.
Y’all think twice about getting big dogs, I’m telling y’all! It’s expensive being a responsible dog owner.
What’s Next
Tomorrow there is no school but we have a therapy day.
Lucina has morning speech while AJ has afternoon OT and evening ABA.
I just wanted to fill y’all in since I’m not sure how the week is going to go for us.
