Hey everyone!
How’s it going in your part of the world?? A lot of virus drama and talk is going on over here in GA. Funny thing is there isn’t a “local” case yet.
A lady from a neighboring town is being treated at our hospital though. So there’s one case here but not really from here. Either way it has many anxious.
There’s a big divide in our small town. It’s an online battle between “you’re overreacting” vs the “it’s a pandemic” on the town Facebook groups. I mean, one should always have supplies at home. So I am a little annoyed the shelves are empty due to extreme shopping.
If y’all follow the blog/page, then y’all know AJ is into shredding toilet paper now. Talk about awful timing lol.
I used some respite hours today (thank you Mrs. J!) to brave Walmart. Our town only has Walmart as the “big” store.
I only needed to restock on the foods AJ likes to eat so I was in and out pretty fast. I just couldn’t find eggs.
I had to make two more stops before paying $5 for a dozen of organic eggs. I mean, it ain’t bad but it ain’t cheap.
There was coughing and sniffles all around me. It was crazy walking the store that had empty shelves; n a o cleaning supplies, toilet paper, napkins, eggs or milk.
It’s kind of funny because the majority of the town presence online is “people are overreacting,” yet they went and bought up all of Walmart 🤔.
Anyway, I got almost all I needed for the kids. The school district here isn’t closed but who knows what’s next. The towns/states on both sides have shut down for two weeks. Our town is one of the few that’s open.
Given AJ’s immune system and him barely getting over catching a bad respiratory infection and pneumonia a few months ago, I’m not sure if I will send him.
I plan on sending him tomorrow with a note asking if they can send curriculum and not count him absent if he does it. I know some families aren’t sending their kids at all.
The school and hospital where they are treating the lady have been extremely hush. Which is good to not cause panic, but at the same time, anyone with anxiety is panicking because of the “hushness.”
I’m just trying to survive a day at a time. AJ has been going through a weird phase. He’s waking up around 4-4:30am every day, going to the bathroom and is ready to start the day. I legit tuck him back in bed at least 5-7times before sending him to my room.
I wake up to the sound of him slapping his legs and squealing every morning. I’m constantly telling him to be nice to his body and not to hit his legs. He doesn’t do it in anger. It’s more of a happy stim, but he slaps hard. I don’t want him making his skin red and irritated. It’s been interesting to watch some new stims and sleep issues emerge this past week.
Lucina on the other hand has honestly been kind of mean and testing boundaries. Somehow she picked up hitting and just being rude. I’m having to be bad mom any time I see her try to boss AJ or try and hit him while he’s playing somewhere she doesn’t like.
I’m all for independence, but this girl has some hard lessons ahead if she thinks I’m going to allow her to be bossy and mean spirited. I have no problem sending her to her room or hearing her cry after being sent there.
Joe has a hard time disciplining the kids because he cannot stand to hear them cry. I don’t care. If sending them to their room makes them cry, cry on. I have many pet peeves. One of my biggest ones is mean kids. I cannot stand a mean kid.
Anyway, that’s the house drama.
Aside from the virus causing uproar around the world, the weather has been beautiful this week. Kind of sucks because the zoo and other places are all shut down.
If the kids school and therapies get canceled, I told myself I’m going to Lowe’s to buy gardening supplies. If we can’t go places, then might as well enjoy the weather and have the kids plant food and flower seeds.
I’m hoping everyone stays healthy and the world can become a kinder place. If anything, maybe all this hand washing and extreme amounts of hand sanitizer will lessen the spread of all seasonal viruses🤞🏼. One can hope.
Let me know in comments what you are doing to stay sane, healthy and if your town has shut down.
Until next blog ❤
