Let Me Introduce Myself (& Family)

Before I get started with the introduction blog, I really hope y’all read the title in Jay Z’s voice. Ok, now to the introductions.

If you are following my social media pages then you already have a good idea of who I am, as well as my family. If you stumbled upon the blog from a share or were referred here from a friend, welcome (and thanks friend!).

My name is Suhay and I am married to my husband Joe. We both were born and raised in Houston, Texas and met in high school. We are parents to two wonderful, yet sometimes challenging kids – Alexander (AJ) and Lucina. As much as we wish we could be raising the family in Texas, we can’t due to Joe’s job. I won’t go into detail on where he works because he is private and I respect that.

I love crafting, watching any show related to healthcare drama (my dogs are named Lexi & Sloan if that says anything), crimes, and the occasional junk reality show. Joe is pretty much a movie junkie who loves history, fishing, cooking (preferably BBQ), camping and music.

Now to Alexander. In the blogs he will be referred to as AJ about ninety percent of the time. He is my first born and my baby boy. AJ is seven years old and loves routine. At twenty-one months old, he was diagnosed with nonverbal Autism – Level 3 (the most severe level). This diagnoses rocked my world. I will get into that in another blog. I am happy to say that my boy has made so much progress (he is now ASD level 2 – moderate/severe) over the years with the hard work he puts in at therapy. Some of his main loves include: Eric Carle books, puzzles, chocolate, carbs, anything Disney, numbers and the alphabet. He also has a photographic memory which I am totally jealous of. A few of his dislikes include: changing routine, trying on pants and sharing his favorite toys.

Lucina. Oh this girl is a lot. She is three, going on sixteen. Lucina’s nickname is sister so she will probably be referred to by that “nickname” in future blogs. Why sister? Well, because we are literal around AJ and wanted him to learn from day one who she was to him. Lucina has a soul that just screams “I’m in charge.” She will find the beat in anything and start to dance to it. Since she was a little baby, she has always tried to hang with the “big kids.” I actually have to tell her to relax at the playground because she will run up to the school aged kids and start babbling with hand motions like “okay guys, here is what we are going to play.” Some of her likes include: music, food, her brothers toys (cars & books), chapstick, Peppa Pig and baby dolls. Her dislikes are pretty simple: bugs. Lucina HATES bugs.

Stewie, Lexi & Sloan. You may be wondering who these guys & girl are if I talk about them in the future. They are our three dogs; yes, three! Stewie’s real name is actually Stewart but we only call him that if he is in trouble. Stewie is a lot like Lucina; small and fierce. He is the king of instigating drama with neighborhood dogs three times his size (he is a Pomeranian/Shih Tzu mix). Lexi and Sloan are brother and sister German Shepards. If you are wondering who the alpha is, that would be little Stewie. Sloan is the biggest of the three but actually the youngest and the chicken. Lexi is the people lover; she just wants attention all the time. They aren’t pups anymore but I still call them that. They have never been separated, act very much like pups still and are the silliest “smart breed” dogs I have ever met.

This sums up my small family. So now what? Well, my goal is to share a blog a week or more depending if something pops up that I have to write about. The idea I have right now is one week a recent story and the next week will be a “throwback” covering some of AJ’s early years. Those will be deep, but hopefully relatable/helpful to those who need to hear our experiences.

Until next blog ❤
